For cameras not officially supported, you can also try choosing the User Define option and manually entering the source path to see if it works.
Camera list ![]() View and manage all your cameras in the camera list. Everything you need to know about the cameras can be found and accessed on this page. Use the well-organized buttons to add, delete, and edit your cameras.
Video Settings ![]()
Surveillance Station 4 supports MJPEG, MPEG4, and H.264 video formats. For each camera, you can define different image settings including resolution, frame rate and image quality for recording and live view, respectively. Choose your live view source from either Surveillance Station 4 or directly from the camera. Recording
Recording Modes In DSM 2.3, Surveillance Station 4 supports five video recording modes. Audio recording is also supported when an audio-capable camera is used.
![]()
Manual recording is used during live-view. You can manually start the recording whenever events occur by pressing the video camera button on the control panel. ![]()
For motion detection recording, you can either rely on the built-in motion detection mechanism of the camera, or leave it to Surveillance Station 4 (MJPEG only). Designate up to 10 custom detection areas on the camera view and the recording will only begin when motion is detected within a designated area.
Alarm recording often relates to the IP camera's digital input and output pin. When the IP camera receives a triggering signal from an exterior sensor via the digital input pin, it will send a signal to the DiskStation to start alarm recording. Schedule ![]()
Setting up a recording schedule for 24-7 surveillance solution is simple with Surveillance Station 4. Easily create a recording schedule by choosing a recording mode and clicking the preferred hours to set the time. You can select a certain day by tapping on the day of the week, a certain hour everyday by tapping the hour column, or all hours by tapping on the top-left corner. Archive Rotation ![]()

To create a sweeping path just set preset positions and create patrol paths to enhance your environment security. While the preset position is set by adjusting the camera angle to focus on a point you'd like to monitor, the patrol path is created by connecting several preset positions together to form a guard cycle. Set guard schedules to enable automatic patrol when event is triggered. Live View![]()
The Live View page displays a real-time stream of all configured cameras. The control panel increases the ease to function live-view. You can operate the PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) and digital zoom in/out function, switch to a preset position or patrol path, take snapshots, browse E-Map and manually record videos.
